My main areas of research and publications are in the fields of labour market, families, and welfare policy, with a particular reference to changing gender relations and its implications. Social time and social inequality are imortant dimensions in my studies of social change.
Currently I am working on two book projects. Together with Arnlaug Leira, University of Oslo, I am editing the book "Politicising Parenthood in Scandinavia. Gender relations in welfare states", to be published by Policy Press (Bristol) in January 2006. Contributors from all the Nordic countries address changes in family policies and family practices over the past decade. The second book project "Postindustrial working time: new realties, new concepts?" is an analysis of transformations of the Norwegian working time regime.
Since 2004 I have been member of the EU expert network "Gender Equality in Employment and Social Inclusion".
